Doherty's (Fintan's) Corner Shop Carndonagh Jumbo Canvas Tote Bag

Doherty's, better known locally as Fintan’s, was a well-known corner shop on The Diamond in Carndonagh. Many people, including myself, have fond memories of getting a pink and white ice-cream on sunny days. Sadly, the shop closed last year after over 80 years in business. This design was recommended to me by a customer, Nicola, and I had a lot of fun drawing it and enjoyed putting in the detail of the iconic rooftop “Doherty’s” sign.

What is a screen print? A screen print is a method of printmaking where ink is pushed through a stencilled mesh to create an image. It’s the technique that Andy Warhol used to make his famous “Marilyn Monroe” prints - and many other artists do the same. It’s not digital and so each print is considered “unique”, and every bag is hand printed by Cara in Derry Print Workshop.

Care Instructions: Please note that these bags are not machine-washable due to the nature of the canvas - the wash and spin cycle may distort the shape and structure of the canvas. You can spot clean them with lukewarm water and the tiniest bit of detergent in order to preserve the shape and colour of the tote.
